Maybe this is a stupid question, but why was Malfoy on the second
floor on Halloween in CoS? When Harry, Ron, and Hermione discover the
writting on the wall and the petrified Mrs. Norris, Malfoy is in the
crowd that discovers them. But why was he there? It was after the
feast, so shouldn't he have been headed for his common room, which is
in the dungon. I thought that maybe Rowling put him there to make us
suspicous, but we know that it wasn't him. But what other reason
would he be there?

P.S. Hermione says early in CoS that Moaning Myrtle's bathroom is on
the first floor, but it's really on the second. This may just have
been a misprint.
