Scar doesn't cut it as H=V

Not necessarily so - all it means is that he attacked Harry first. He 
may have had a list of 100 wizard-born children of the right age, 
etc. that he would have gotten around to if Harry hadn't stopped the 
spree. The 'choice' in the scar appears to be not on Voldemort's 
part, or only in that he chose to attack Harry first - maybe he 
didn't even do that, and we simply haven't heard of other magic-born 
children who perhaps died in the general slaughter? - but in Lily 
protecting Harry, and the connection being made that V. attacks the 
Potters, but the boy lives.
There's so much we don't know about the timing of the day, where 
major characters were and what they were doing; and all our 
information is filtered through a very few sources who may have their 
own agendas.
