Nymphadora means 'gift from the nymphs' the same as Isidora means
'gift from Isis" and Apollodoros means 'gift from Apollo' (and
Theodore means 'gift from God'). In ancient Pagan times, people who
prayed to some god to have a baby and then had one often named it
'gift of' that particular god. Switching from Greek to Egyptian,
there were a number of people named Padibast and Tadibast (male and
female of 'gift from Bastet', the cat goddess). Betcha can guess what
Padiamum means!
