I completely agree, Evangelina.  further, we are treated to one of my 
favorite Snape/Harry moments so far:  the exchange in Umbridge's office when 
her little junior brown shirt squad has everybody prisoner and Harry is 
alerting Snape to his belief that Padfoot's been taken...the exchange 
between them, and Snape's parting shot to Crabbe, which does have the effect 
of lessening his punishment of Neville at the moment and is so beautifully 
wry and understated that I want to give the man a round of applause.  How 
neatly he managed to transfer a "don't do that to Neville, even if he is a 
hopeless git in Potions" into something in *Crabbe's* best interests!
