I am also put out with Petunia. I just don't like her. Yeah, sure,
she has a little more dimension in OotP, but it was really too little
too late for me. I mean Hannibal Lecter has many dimensions, doesn't
mean I would want him around my child. I have simliar feelings about
Petunia. She is absolutely terrible to Harry, and I'm sorry- no
matter what her feelings are about dirt, no matter what she's been
through- you do not make your flesh and blood live in a closet. And
remember the only reason he got out of that closet is because the
letters had his cupboard on them. Oh and remember there is also the
living off of cold soup thing, and then the being locked into his
room and only let out to use the restroom 2 times per day. I mean-
that's not very often.
However, I did have a quick flash of wondering if there was a crush
on James- or even one of his friends. I actually thought of Remus
first. Petunia was already jealous of Lily for getting the
attention, then Lily has this cute guy. He has a friend. The friend
is starting to be nice to Petunia, and she finds she likes him back.
But then she finds out he is a werewolf, and it totally freaks her
out. She hates all things magical from that day forward. And the
cleaning thing stems off that also.
Then I decided that was too Days of Our Lives and decided JKR
wouldn't do that. And that the pure truth is that Petunia is just a
person with no imagination, no talents, and a lot of jealousy.
