My initial reaction was that Tom Riddle had already been destroyed
back in CoS, but you're talking about personalities here, so let me
put that aside. Can I suggest that you include a time turner in your
theory somehow? In PoA, the cardinal rule seems to have been that the
past version of a person (if I can speak loosely) cannot see the
future version of the person. Hermione notes that this has led to
trouble, even to one killing the other. So imagine if Voldemort goes
back somehow...
Now there's been a lot of discussion about how the time turner can
probably only take you back a short time, but maybe a short time would
be enough.
