There is a common theory that Snape is using his body to create 
polyjuice potion in order to infiltrate the death eaters since 
Voldemort doesn't know that Crouch has been kissed.

Would Voldemort really care about Crouch? I mean he hasn't shown any 
regard towards any of his subordinates including the loyal Bellatrix 
in the MoM or Wormtail in the old Riddle House.
