 A Question:
I haven't read bk. 5 yet or for that matter finished bk. 4 but this made me curious. I have the same question, although it's a bit diff. People were talking about Grindlawauld, James, Lily, etc. I'm just curious, if they're wizards then why haven't we seen them as ghosts, since they're dead? What about Grindlawauld, he was a very powerful Dark Wizard, so why didn't he become a ghost as well? A lot of wizards have died, so why aren't they ghosts? Maybe it's because they've fulfilled their purpose in life, or maybe the only dead wizards that come back as ghosts, are the ones that fought to stay alive-who died horrible deaths-, the wizards who don't except death. But if this would be true then Grindlawauld would still be a ghost, unless they have him under/in a place where he isn't able to choose the form of a ghost- ex. some kind of binding spell on his remains/the place where remains are held. I know I'm kind of answering my own questions but Annemehr has a very good point. I keep reading posts about this--

>Nearly Headless Nick hesitated, then said, 'Not everyone can come
> back as a ghost.'
> 'What do you mean?' said Harry quickly.
> 'Only...only wizards.'
> OOP, page 860 American version.

and so by reading Annemehr's question it got me thinking about it too. And I too would like some one to think of a plausible theory, I mean mine aren't what you call " theory material " frankly I wouldn't call them theories but more like -guesses or just an 'out of the blue' thought.
