You know Sue thats precisely the topic of conversation I was just 
having with my friend. Her consoling words, I feel, I need to pass to 
others. 
My friend told me that she always thought "_The_Best_" writers wrote 
for children. 
HP fans cannot be put below Tolkien fans as childish or immature in 
their tastes, because, 'The Hobbit' was written for children, and 
Tolkien himself was a self confessed life-long fan of childrens 
literature.

That is just two points my friend made that helped to lift my spirits 
about criticism of my choice to read and love JK Rowlings writing.
I hope they have helped you feel better.
