I tend to agree with this. I don't know if any relationships will
truly present themselves. Face it, the Cho/Harry drama was a nice
little side show, but it really seemed more as a character
development issue for Harry. Once again, despite being "famous" and
a "hero", he is totally inept in dealing with girls, thus adding to
his anger and angst.
With so many major plots unfurling in the last two books, and so many
minor plots, I don't know if any relationships will be evident,
except in the final chapters in an "unwritten future" kind of way.
As for gay characters, I honestly don't think it will be included.
Somehow, I think if JKR included homosexuality in her children's book
series, it would definately change the way some people react to her
books. I would also wonder if Warner Brothers has any say in it.
I really don't think it will appear, though. It is really a mild
opinion, but I think the inclusion of a gay character in the HP
series would be almost intentional on her part, which the gay
community would celebrate.
JKR doesn't seem to give in to convention or politics. I don't think
her style of writing gives way so far for much along the lines of
relationships, anyway, nor do I think should would include a gay
character for attention, appeasement, or equal opportunity.
Therefore, the only reason she would include it is if it were
important to the plot.
I personally don't read or write any fanfiction, so I can't really
tell of the joys of dreaming of characters becoming close, though I
know many on this list do. Somehow, if the relationship hasn't been
hinted at in canon (H/H, R/H, H/G, R/Luna) I guess I just don't see
it necessarily being a canon discussion.
