The possibility of a gay character (WAS: Snape: The fact that he exists)

While I've never picked up on Snape possibly being gay in any of 
the books, I did think that there were hints in the movie version of 
SS.  The scene that stood out particularly to me was the first 
Potions class, in which Snape cast rather suggestive looks 
(IMO) at Draco, and that Draco received with a smile.
