Reading all of the comments and theories on "Perseus Evans" (though I can't claim to have read them ALL!), it's an intriguing thought. It's the reverse of Sirius' situation, where he rebelled against a "pureblood obsessive" family that was "dark-leaning." It would be a perfect contrast if Snape had rebelled against a "weasley-like" family to follow the Death Eater path. At some point in his life he must have been a sincere adherent to this point of view (very unlikely he went as far as being "branded" by LV otherwise). It all would tie together very nicely, too, giving Harry two sides to his family tree. The Sirius side (evil turned good) and the Evans-Snape side (good turned evil).
