I love them both too...Sirius because of his unwavering love of
Harry and his desire to protect him and be the father Harry never
had. And of course because of the tragedy his life became, my heart
went out to him many times. And Molly, because she is the mother
figured Harry needs so much, and she too is unwavering in that
role. My favorite scene of her and Harry was in the hospital wing
in GOF after Harry came back from the graveyard, and she held him
close and let him cry out his misery over what he had been through.
(Tho, I was really miffed at Hermoine picking that time to catch the
Skeeter bug...grrr).
> Anyways with that said I'm going to be very harsh on Molly right
now. She bothered me a lot in this book. Mainly because of how
hard she was on Sirius....The one comment that bothers me the most
was the one where she implied that he could not look after Harry
while in Azkaban. I'm sorry, but before age 11 Molly did not have
much to do with Harry either. Honestly, I dont think she knew much
of Harry at all except by stories, and the only reason she became
his "mother" is because of his relationship with Ron. Not that this
makes her less caring but really that comment about Azkaban was not
uncalled for...especially considering it's not like sirius wanted to
be there. Or even deserved to be there. <<
This bothered me too, alot. But Molly does regret saying it
immediatly after it was said. But, it was definately out of line
and it really did hurt Sirius. It was heart wrenching reading about
Sirius in OotP, he wanted so much to be of use...to be
Harry's "father". His happiness at Christmas, when they were all
there at Grimmauld Place just tore me up. He was a very lonely man,
through no fault of his own.
> The next thing that bothered me is the scene on the platform.
Sirius embraced harry by putting his paws on him. And Molly told
him (called him Sirius too) to act more like a dog. I'm sorry but
it was one of the few embraces that Sirius ever got to give
Harry...he loved Harry....he had every right to hug is Godson. As
much of a right as Molly does. And why did she call him Sirius? I
mean waht a way to blow a cover! <<
This bothered me too, she even tried to stop him from going to Kings
Cross in the first place. Maybe she was a bit jealous of Sirius'
role in Harry's life? I know that she thought Sirius looked on
Harry as James, which he may have to some extent...but remember,
Sirius lost his best friend, was sent to Azkaban for something he
didn't do and spent 12 years there, he gets out, finds Harry, who
looks amazingly like his father...some transitionism (sp?) is not
unreasonable, it may even be excepted.
> I am thinking I wonder if Molly ever truly trusted Sirius (or
perhaps, only partly did). Part of me wonders if she still thought
that he might have done it ((I doubtr this is true..especially
considering she left her children in his care...but I mean it's a
thought). I just wonder what all of your thoughts are? Why do you
think Molly was so hard on Sirius? <<
I think she was a bit jealous, like I said above. And, she have
thought him to be a bit "unstable". I don't think she mistrusted
him, I mean, I don't think she believed Sirius would ever hurt Harry
in any way. I think she just thought him irresponsible to some
degree.
Tracie...who will miss Sirius and mourned his passing :-(
