I'm glad someone brought up the map scene. I was just rereading it, 
in the light of what we know of Snape's Worst Memory. Doesn't anyone 
recognise the insults Snape receives from the artefact? Why, Mr 
Mooney tells him to keep his abnormally large nose out of his 
business. Carrying Remus' ever so pleasant personality, doesn't it? 
Anyone want to insist Remus didn't call Snape Snivellus? And why 
should we rejoice over the fact that Lupin uses Severus over 
Snivellus, anyway? Suddenly not calling someone by their hated 
childhood nickname is something you should be complimented on?

So let me get this right your arguement is that the adult Remus is rude and
immature and you evidence for this is how his teenage self acts? No one is
saying remus was a polite well mabbered teenager (although compared to James
and Sirius he was). He even admits himself (in OoP) that he should have
stopped them b ut he didn't.

No one is saying that he should be complimented for not calling Snape
Snivellous. They were pointing out that he is trying to be polite and
courteous and Severus is being unfailingly rude in response.

The real problem here is that while Remus has moved beyond his childish feud
with Severus Severus is still stuck in the past, admittedly the incident
with Sirius nearly getting him killed was probably very traumatic, but it
wasn't remus' fault. Remus does lie about the map which possibly wasn;'t the
brightest thing to do.

As for forgetting his potion while foolhardy it's hardly inexcusable since
he'd just seen evidence that harry and co were in the company of a dead man
and a convicted criminal and realised that everything he thought he knew
about the deaths and treachery of his friends was wrong. If we're going to
discuss the events of that night then none of the 'adults' come out of it
particularly well.
