communication through the veil?

Has anyone considered that people can communicate with
people who have died by using the veil?  Harry and
Luna could hear voices from behind it, and Harry felt
an attraction to it.  So isn't it possible that his
mother and father were close by, just beyond the veil,
and Harry could talk to them, and now Sirius too?

On another subject, does Harry know (from canon) that
his mums maiden name was Evans?  He seemed very
confused by his fathers doodle of an L and an E, which
I thought was obviously Lily Evans.
