frumenta replied:
Neville was never Harry's lackey. He wanted to be friends with
Harry, Ron and Hermione, even though that didn't always go too well
but he didn't worship Harry. >>>
laxer now:
I think that this set of parallels will be what ultimately decides if Voldy wins or loses. IF, and it is a big if, the parallel that we have just put forth of Lucius>Snape; James>Peter and Harry>Neville is correct, then we may be able to predict bits and peices of the future books. Thus far, I think that OOP has shown us that Peter P was badly treated by James and co., in the pensive scene. Peter may have felt ill used by James and gone to someone whom he thought would treat him better. If the speculation about Snape having a similar dynamic with Lucius as Peter's and James' is correct then perhaps the reason for Snape's defection is the same as Peter's. And then the way that Neville plays into the picture is that he could have been in the same position as Peter, but Harry, having his mothers eyes, in that he was able to see things the way lily would have, as opposed to James, was kind to Neville, and so Neville will have no reason to betray Harry.
Another thing is that if this parallel is correct, the ellusive good Slytherin may show up in someone who originally hung with Draco, but was the butt of too many jokes.
laxer, who says that if none of this makes sense its cause it was written at midnight. Ask questions, I'll clarify tomorrow.
