Actually he only continued to play because Angelina refused his
resignation and the fact that it took most of the school year for him
to get a handle over his issues doesn't say much for his maturity.

He wanted to quit immediately after the first game. Again doesn't say
much for his resolve.

It is exactly the burdens which Neville and Harry carry which I think
have allowed them to mature so fast while Ron in a sense is still
emotionally a kid.

Many of these instances she had pretty good reason to shout at him.
-he calls the first years midgets
-he starts to attack her attempt at elf liberation
-when he says they couldn't have done anything to prevent Bode's
death

They remain friends because of the fact that they have Harry standing
in between them.
And most of the bickering is started by Ron or his immaturity which
seems to get on Hermione's nerves

Again how so in terms of tolerance? He was still bearing many of the
narrow minded beliefs that he had in GOF.

I don't agree. That resentment we saw in GOF imo was just the first
signs of a fracture between Harry and Ron.
