Furthermore he actually let the Slytherins and their Weasley is Our
King get to him which effected his performance. So in comparison to
Harry, Hermione and Neville I think Ron has a LONG way to go if he
wants to catch up to them.>

Don't you think you're being a bit hard on Ron? Maybe he did let the
Slytherin song get to him, but I am impressed by the fact that he
continued to go out there and play Quidditch, game after game, loss
after loss, song after song. Plenty of other students would have quit
long before Ron did. What he did took a lot of courage.

I don't think Ron is so far behind Harry, Hermione or Neville; he is
simply different than they are. He doesn't carry the burdens that
Harry or Neville do and he doesn't have the same academic interests as
Hermione does. I can't say Hermione's constant "Ron!" every time she
says Voldemort's name is the height of maturity either. She and Ron
are on equal footing when it comes to the constant bickering, but they
remain friends just the same, as Ron does with Harry, no matter how
angry or frustrated Harry was throughout OoP.

Ron really irritated me in GoF but I feel that he's really coming into
his own now. He showed more tolerance and less resentments, which was
a welcome change. While I don't see him as the strongest of wizards,
I no longer think he may be one who will betray Harry or the Order,
either purposely or accidentally.

Really, I don't see any Hogwarts students turning into traitors.
After all, Pettigrew didn't turn on his friends until well after
Hogwarts, unless I am mistaken. Then again, it may just be me, having
a hard time seeing a 17 year old (or younger) turning on classmates
and towards evil in such a way (Draco doesn't count as he was against
Harry from the get-go).
