Please comment on these ramblings.
There is much discussion reference DD being Hedwig, the longer it continues IMHO the less lightly this appears to be.
 
DD prior to being the Head of Hogwarts was the Transfiguration teacher, he is also one of the cleverest and most powerful wizards around.
 
1) We know LV can enter the mind of Nagini and observe the world from therein. 
2) We also know that various wizards are Animagi and that they appear to choose the type of creature they become.
 
I see no reason why DD can not do No1, to possibly more than one subject, as the need dictates. Also I will be very suprised if DD is not an Animagi and I see no reason why he can not transform into various creatures as required.
 
Further we know that the Portraits in the Headmasters office collect information from all over and that the inhabitants of all the school portraits seem to move around at will.
 
This would certainly give him the information gathering scope to appear all knowing.
