Andromeda Black

Okay I just have a question...it's been bugging me...
 
We know that Andromeda Black was Sirius cousin (Narcissa and Bellatrix's sister) and that she and Sirius were close (His favorite cousin and all).  
 
But he used her in the past tense.."She was my favorite cousin*  Now there are two ways we could take it...
 
She's dead (most likely) or she decided to go back to the family.  Tonks really did not discuss her mum in the book cept to insist that she be called  Tonks and not Nymphodora (her fool mother).   
 
Now, most likely she died when Tonks was very young...but maybe not.  If she did die was she targeted  by Voldie?  Look who her sister was?  
 
He seemed really bitter when he talked about Andromeda...especially I believe that one of his main problems with his family stems from disowning Meda (I like to call her that..lol) after she married Ted Tonks (who is not a muggle that is stated clearly..he is a wizard).  The reason why I say this is he makes the statement that Narcissa and Bella were considered wonderful because they married fine pureblooded people.  
 
I just wonder if Meda was alive when Sirius went away...did she believe he did it?  It makes me wonder...Anyways if Tonks becomes a more prominent character here more of Andromeda...
 
I don't know maybe I'm crazy but I think she is a very fascinating character..lol...
