>From what Harry saw in the Mirror of Erised, there were others with 
his green eyes.  I believe that to mean that Lily was not the first 
magical person in her family, thus Petunia's distaste for them as 
well.  I don't think Harry's grandparents are alive, especially the 
maternal ones, or DD would have considered sending Harry to them 
since they would obviously also carry Lily's blood.
