Snape's role in the Order

Isn't the idea that Harry should not be in the Dept. of Mysteries?
The Order does know that Voldie is hell bent in going there (hence
poor Arthur guarding the place) so Harry is not telling them much
there. The thing is that Harry is in danger from those visions.
What should Snape have said? "Oh, yes, there is this little Prophecy
in the Dept. of Mysteries and it does concern you and Voldie's after
it but don't worry, we've got it covered?" Knowing Harry to be more
curious than an army of cats would that have been wise?
I doubt it has anything to do with Snape wanting to downplay Harry's
importance in the struggle against Voldemort. He's just trying to
discourage Harry from going to that place, plain and simple.
