I would advise you to go back and read some of the arguments that he 
has with Hermione. They are not attempts at showing affection, but 
are just downright nasty with intent to emotionally harm the other 
from both parties.

Or he would insult her like what he has done several times.

Yes they do, but they are no where near as close as they are with 
Harry and usually when they spend time together it usually degrades 
into a shout fest from both sides.

Except the whole thing was hermione's brain child and it was she that 
set up the whole thing including jinxing the scroll and creating the 
charmed galleons.
