Or they are a plant from the FBI and very good at hiding their real 
feelings..

Or there for the power, willing to say whatever they need to say to get 
that power, even if they don't really believe what they are saying. 
Just being 'one of the gang' and 'accepted' is more important then the 
goals of the group.  Meaning that he might have turned spy BECAUSE he 
lacked the belief in the group's goals and felt he didn't really have 
friends or acceptance, but was just being used.
