Hello to everybody,
Overall I've enjoyed the posts, but find it hard to keep up.
Anyways, I have a few observations. If you can help me out or want to
remark, feel free.
1. In GoF: On pg. 186 (US), Dumbledore states that the Triwizard
Tournament hasn't been held in over a century. On pg. 264 Hagrid says
that he'd never thought he would live to see the Tournament played
*again.* Is this a possible flint? Or perhaps evidence of some time-
turning (groan...I like it, but it's much too complicated). JKR is
pretty organized, but I understand that it is hard to juggle all the
details.
2. On pg. 186 of GoF: Fred says,"You're joking," when Dumbledore
announces the Tournament. DD goes on to begin telling some kind of
joke that sounds like it would be told in a bar...the Hog's Head
perhaps? I'm not sure how I feel about the barman from the HH being
Aberforth, but this could be a possibility. Characters in the books
don't always volunteer information regarding aquaintances (we're kind
of on a need to know basis). At the moment, I felt this was just
evidence of DD being a down to earth kind of guy (smirk).
3. On pg. 55 of GoF: Harry has just arrived at the Burrow and Percy
is complaining about the noise because he is writing his report on
cauldrons. Ron jokes and says,"Sorry if we've disturbed the top-
secret workings of the MoM." Sometimes Ron makes jokes and he's been
right. Personally, I always liked Percy...in that he made me laugh
and he was generally a good guy. Now OotP has me worried. There have
been theories about Percy being a spy (I find DD's middle-name,
Percival, to be telling and hopefully not misleading) for the Order.
I hope so, but could he be a spy for the Ministry? This was Arthur's
concern. With the Ministry coming around to the truth we have yet to
see.
As you can see, I am attempting a thorough search for clues as I re-
read the books (ah, no social life at all...)
Anyways, without the books here is something that stands out in my
mind:
In one of the Occlemency scenes, several people commented on the
meaning of Snape's body language. He is speaking to Harry and
circling his mouth with his fingers. I have read some of the posts
and it makes sense that he's enjoying throwing Harry off the track or
enjoying that Harry has finally caught on (both completely opposite).
However, when I read it I felt that it was because Snape was feeling
particularly hungry (Yes, I think Snape could be a vampire). The
motions did catch my attention, but for another reason. I could be
wrong, but I like this theory. I'm also waiting for somebody to find
evidence against the Evil Lupin theory...anybody?
Some other ideas:
An animagus can transform into an animal, right? Does *animal*
include *magical creature*? Because I don't think they're the same. I
figure they must have some kind of magical property. Anyway, if a
wizard some how found a way to transform into a phoenix, does that
mean anything? I guess it doesn't mean that they could live forever
(unless they forever remained in the form of a phoenix), but maybe
they can avoid dying the way Fawkes does it in the battle scene of
OotP. He doesn't specifically avoid dying, but takes a shot meant for
Dumbledore and of course, does not die.
Well, this is long enough. Back to re-reading books and digests...
