Now me (mtwelovett):
Mundungus was discribed as such, in one of the #12 Grimmauld scenes,
but I don't have the book here with me at present (maybe the one at
Christmas time when he brings the stuff to Fred and George and refuses
to give up his coat--Mrs Weasley's vision chaper I think.). I thought
about this discription some too, and wondered if maybe Mundungus is an
animangus as a cat/kneazle that maybe lives with Mrs Figg since they
seem to have a closer relationship. I don't think Mundungus is
Crookshanks, but could have similar markings as a "cat". I'm still
puzzled about the Squib/cat relationship overall, and think there is
more there, at least for ones that remain involved with the wizarding
world... As to what this has to do with the plot, I'm not sure, and
don't have any elaborate theories about it yet.
