>>> So unless Umbridge is bugging the Order's HQ, presumably impossible
(from outside), how has she got this information? Is there a spy reporting
to Fudge and/or LV?
Have so far failed to come up with a likely candidate - can't see
Snape doing favours for Umbridge (don't think he is a spy anyway - too
obvious),
really don't think Lupin is evil (and Umbridge hates part humans). Suppose
Tonks is a possibility, but that doesn't feel right to me. Maybe it is some
obscure, as yet silent member of the Order, but that would be a bit of a let
down.<<<
Lady Macbeth:
Would it REALLY be that much of a "let down" though? Cedric Diggory was an
offhand reference, and then a minor character/side character, seemingly only
there so that Harry would have a legitimate Hogwarts Champion to compete
against. While there ARE fans who were a bit disappointed with his death
because he was a "nobody", there are many who were as touched by his death
as Sirius's death.
Also, there is ONE Order member who had his first appearance way back in
chapter one of the first book and then was all but forgotten for the longest
time:
Sorcerer's Stone, American Paperback Edition, pg 10:
----- "Oh yes, everyone's celebrating all right," she said impatiently.
"You'd think they'd be a bit more careful, but no -- even the Muggles have
noticed something's going on. It was on their news." She jerked her head
back at the Dursleys' dark living-room window. "I heard it. Flocks of
owls...shooting stars...Well, they're not completely stupid. They were
bound to notice something. Shooting stars down in Kent -- I'll bet that was
Dedalus Diggle. He never had much sense." -----
We can't write off characters who are mentioned just because they're
"unimportant". Did anyone suspect way back then that the nutter who was
firing off shooting stars was one of Dumbledore's most trusted men?
