I like Galadriel Waters' theory (in Unofficial Mysteries) that long (or untidy) hair and/or long fingers and and/or long noses equal stronger wizarding power. I don't believe she has canon for it, but it makes an interesting theory! Personally, I agree w/Lady Macbeth in that long hair as a style has a much longer history than the current close-cropped styles. (Tho, I have short hair myself. LOL)

What I'm curious about are the wizarding clothes! True in the m-----, the styles are very victorian and all the men (except DD) seem to wear trousers. However, is there mention in the books about men wearing trousers? Or about the students wearing standard grey school uniforms for that matter? When Snape was turned upside down in the penseive, he - obviously - wasn't wearing trousers under his robes - school uniform or otherwise.

Curious...
