I must agree with AF on this one.   Where did the 
Abused!Unloved!Miserable!Narcissa come from?  I think what we can safely assume about her is that she has 
the same prejudices towards muggle borns and 'muggle lovers' (as well as all 
the feelings dealing with purity of blood, etc..)as her husband and son and 
most of her family do.  I see her as a rich snob who probably married into the 
Malfoy family because it was the ideal thing to do...not that there wasn't 
anything between her and Lucius, of course. 

I just don't see why she'd turn over a new leaf, or even just flip up a 
corner of one.
