Once upon a midnight dreary as I pondered weak and weary... oh...
wait, it's only 5 o'clock.

Several threads are running that have touched on how much people like
or dislike the confrontation in the train station between Harry's
wizard protectors and the Dursleys. Also, several threads running that
discuss the lack of support and comfort (emotional, spiritual,
physical) that Harry is getting from the only people he has that he
can count on.

As I pondered these subjects, a thought came to me (it's OK, I took
some asprin and feel much better now). I wonder if it is NOT a
coincidence that these wizards step forward to control the Dursley
only AFTER Sirius died?

>From PoA on, Harry has kept the Dursleys in check, by threatening them
with his Godfather, the convicted murderer, Sirius Black. Now he
doesn't have that resource any more. So what, you might ask? The
Durlseys don't know that Sirius is dead. Well, I pondered the
possiblity that Dumbledore might be planning to contact Petunia in a
private letter or conversation, and tell her that Harry has suffered
the tragic loss of his dearly beloved Godfather.

Why would he do that? I speculate that Dumbledore will tell Petunia
this and warn her that it would be in her and her families best
interest not to 'punch any of Harry's button', because in his current
emotional state, he is much more likely to react in a volatile
fashion, and that it wouldn't kill them to show him a little
compassion too. Perhaps even a little talk to remind that a basic
common sense of humanity doesn't demand that you love or even like
everyone, but it does demand that you care, that you have compassion.
Sadly, I think they will get the 'don't punch his buttons', but the
compassion and humanity will go right over their heads.

Just a thought.
