Ah, but how do we know for sure Narcissa doesn't want the same thing
for her son? Just because she sends him care packages at school and
didn't want him going away to a school as far as Durmstrang doesn't
mean she isn't grooming him to support Voldemort and follow in Daddy's
footsteps. It is quite telling that it was Narcissa Kreacher went to
and it was Narcissa who passed along Kreacher's information. This
does not make her a good woman. She may be a loving mother, but a
loving mother can instill some scary ideas in a child's head.
One of weaknesses (IMO) in HP is the role of women and Narcissa fits
this quite well. We see no evidence that she is an active DE, but we
see that she is a doting mother and appears to be a doting wife as
well, or at least a somehwat submissive one, as she doesn't say a word
at the QWC. She takes a back seat to Lucius and seems to mostly allow
him to raise their son - it is he who travels with Draco to Diagon
Alley for shopping and he is the one who keeps showing up at Hogwarts.
She is there, it seems, to support her husband and son in just about
anything they do, and that is pretty dangerous.
