But I think they should take it one step farther. I
think, the publisher's and JKR should sponsor a fan
fiction contest, with the best in a variety of
catagories (Age, theme, etc...) being compiled into a
book and published. (Perhaps, the writers of the
stories could agree to a small fixed payment in return
for being able to say that they were a published
author.)

Me<Vinnia>:
Bboy, what an excellent idea!

In New Zealand, we have a book published compiling
spells, letters, drawings and poems by NZ children,
but it has not been endorsed by JKR. Fanfiction
contest would definitely enable a wider range of
people to participate.

Do you have any idea how to get this contest started?
And even better, can we as a group partially sponsor
this event? I mean, we have 9000+ member. $1 each
member would be able to help get this started (btw,
how much does it cost to get a book published?) Also
if each of us print one copy of the advertisement
leaflet, and post it in the local schools, dairies or
wherever, that would help with the marketing. And it
would be spread all over the world too.

To take it even farther, all the profit made could be
used to sponsor an international HP day. On this day,
the rest of the fan (including kids too young to
write) can participate too by doing some kindness.
Take an orphan for family outings, visiting sick
children, etc. That would inspire us not only to read
and write, but also to spread the main theme of the
book, love.

But of course, the first step is to get JKR to agree
on this. Any ideas?
