My response:
The way you put it reminds me somewhat of Obi-Wan Kenobi's death
in Star Wars: A New Hope. He just shuts off his lightsaber and Vader
slices him in half, and that's it. No body, no funeral... I wasn't
happy. I was consoled when his "ghost" had an important part in the
rest of the series. I'm really hoping for a parallel plotline
involving Sirius, though he'll have to come back as something
besides a ghost. When he died, I read the rest of the book way too
fast (something I regret now, as I missed all the important details)
looking and hoping desperately for Sirius to be proven not dead, or
at least a more satisfactory explanation of what the veil was. I
started formulating almost impossible ways to save him, such
as, "Harry and Lupin or somebody Dissillusion themselves, grab an
invisibility cloak, use a Timeturner, stand in front of the veil,
and catch Sirius in the cloak, all without getting hit by stray
jinxes." Hmmm, that could be an interesting list..."Near Impossible
Ways to Save Sirius Without Screwing Up the Plotline." For Sirius
fans, anyway. Or would that be considered fanfiction?<g>
