What struck me was that Sirius seemed to be almost dismissive of
Regulus when he was speaking about him. He sounded contemptous but I
had the feeling that the animosity that he harboured towards his
Regulus was not on the same level that he displayed towards his
parents and Voldemort's other supporters. Also, the fact that he
tried to back out of being Death Eater once he found out what was
involved (and was killed as a result) seems to indicate that he had
an aversion to killing (unlike the more hard-core Voldemort
supporters). What are people's opinions on this?

My reply:

I think to be fair to Sirius he was very dissmissive about his entire family. I mean the only real comment he made about Narcissa and Bellatrix (besides the fact that Bella isn't considered family) is that they made "fine pure-blooded marriages." REally he didn't have too many horrible things to say about Narcissa at all. But it's clear to assume that he really doesn't particulary like Lucius Malfoy.

I just think Sirius feels like it's not a big deal..it doesn't effect who he is now. I think his bitterness comes from the fact that Tonks and he have every right to be considered family...that it was his parents who were the evil ones!

Now as for Regulas...I wonder what he had to do....who he was asked to kill? Could he have been asked to kill Sirius? James and Harry? Andromeda? Who knows really. I think that Regalus is a product of a home where this kind of stuff happens. Some of the children follow the lead to avoid being hurt by the parents. Others, are not strong enough (or brave enough) to stand up to their parents and likewise get torn into the situation.

Say whatever you want about Sirius but he was definitely a very brave and rebellious man. Thus, he had the courage to stand up to his family while Regalus..did not.
