If ones' robe was open, (which they sometimes are) you could see the
shirt tails hanging down below the sweater/jumper if the shirt was
untucked. As far as ties, etc. first years wouldn't have those until
they are sorted into their respective houses, but after that... I
just always assumed other clothing was worn under robes. Imagine
being up on your broom with nothing on under that billowing robe!
LOL! Or getting knocked back with a good old "rictusampra".
