Thanks, Darrin, for putting into words what has been floating around
mistily in my brain about Hagrid. It is indeed a fairy tale,
difficult as it is to picture in a world jaded by computer games and
instant access.

While reading what others wrote anti-Hagrid, I too thought about
Hagrid's relationship with Grawp. No one else would have thought to
bring him back. Hagrid does.

Hagrid, who sees the good in most everyone (Filch and Mrs. Norris
being exceptions). Hagrid, who's loyalty to Dumbledore is unwavering
to the point Dumbledore would "trust him with my life".

I was convinced it would be Mrs. Weasley or Hagrid who died in OoP.
I was so relieved it wasn't either that I still haven't fully reacted
to Sirius.

Harry's interaction with Hagrid after Sirius's death did bother me.
Hagrid was trying to do the best he could to comfort Harry. I don't
think Harry would have listened to anyone, really; the emotion was
still too raw and on the surface.

Again, good post (IMHO anyway).

Claire
