I agree with you completely. Hagrid is a wonderful character in the 
HP series.  It is especially important because he was Harry's first 
real re-introduction to the wizarding world.  He is one of my 
favorite characters and I hope that he makes it through the series 
alive.  Whether he will or not is up to JK!
