Why Ron WON'T betray Harry

Exactly.  I think JKR made Ron and Hermione prefects to illustrate how 
isolated Harry really is now.  Both Ron and Hermione want to be the 
best of friends to Harry, but there is only so much they can do.  
Harry is alone here - he is the one who ultimately will have to go up 
against Voldemort.  I saw signs of this in GoF when Harry left Ron and 
Hermione bickering to go and stand in the Owlery for hours, alone.  As 
much as he likes his friends, he actually needs to be separated a bit 
to stay focused on what he has to do.  JKR did this for him by giving 
his friends activities that Harry cannot partake in.
