Yeah I agree with this too. This was similar to the ending of
Madeleine L'Engle's book "A Wrinkle In Time" (which is my favourite
book ever) where the heroine had to demonstrate love to get rid of an
evil entity. She loved the person who the entity had captured, not
the entity itself, and defeated it that way.
