What Snape does is wrong.  I'm not going to argue that.  However, I 
still find it less disturding than what Sirius does.

On a seperate note, some people think Snape being mean to the 
Gryffindors is an act to keep the DE thinking he's on their side.  I 
don't.  I do think there is a very real possibility that his being 
nice to the Slytherins is an act.  I know there is no concrete 
evidence, but I can't believe that Snape likes Draco, Crabbe, and 
Goyle.  Especially Crabee and Goyle.  He seems to have no patience 
for incompetence.
