On a seperate note, some people think Snape being mean to the
Gryffindors is an act to keep the DE thinking he's on their side. I
don't. I do think there is a very real possibility that his being
nice to the Slytherins is an act. I know there is no concrete
evidence, but I can't believe that Snape likes Draco, Crabbe, and
Goyle. Especially Crabee and Goyle. He seems to have no patience
for incompetence.

My reply.

Now, I will agree with you on this. I don't think he likes Crabbe and Goyle either. And I will say this for Snape, being nice to them and on the "good" side if they were to find out he was in fact no longer a death eater can't be a bad thing. I mean he is still "cool" but not working for Voldie. I don't know maybe I'm crazy. He really does not have to worry about Neville, Hermione, Ron and Harry from going evil (I use them because he especially is hard on them) but he does have to worry about Draco. And Crabbe and Goyle their too dumb to know the difference in my opinion, I think they are useless but it would be funny if they turned out to be the "good" ones in the end.

Question: Who did the Gryffindors have DADA with third year? Was it the Slytherins? Because I remember clearly that one scene in the teachers lounge where Snape makes a comment about Neville being in the class and how unsafe it was. Who was he trying to impress there? Or was he just doing it to get on Lupin's nerves? I don't know just a thought.

And I just want to say that it is a credit to JKR's writing that all of us can be on so many polor oposites of characters. I mean part of the reason we look at these people so differently is our own experiences. For example, I remember when my fourth grade teacher called me dumb....and I'm 22 years old! So naturally, I'm going to find Snape hard to read. Their have been times, like that scene with Hermione and the teeth where I was actually reduced to tears over what he told her.

Why I love Sirius..I could go on and on but honestly, I think that both him and Snape have had it very rough. In any given situation people can turn out two different ways. Who was the better of the two? That's really anyones call. Personally, I think that Sirius is a very loving father figure for Harry (misplaced or not) and a fairly decent person.
