Alright, alright, I admit, some of my previous theories were a little
far fetched even for me. But I still want to know why the Longbottoms
and why Frank first and not his wife? Until then, I will stand by
what I have said before that it was Alice who knew something not
Frank.

Now on to
BENT UNCLE ALGIE!

Yes, it had to be said.
This bring me on to the flint. In GOF it mentions Augustus Rookwood
yet in OOTP it is Algeron. Algie is a short form of Algeron
(think "The Importance of Being Ernest" by Oscar Wilde).
However,
Neville has seen his Uncle a few times including the memorable time
when he was eight and so can conclude that he is not the same as
Rookwood who has been in Azkaban. I have to add at this point that
Neville made no mention of recognition of Rookwood in the Department
of Mysteries and so it could be a flint.

Moving on.

We now have Trevor and the plant.
Listening to "Little Shop of Horrors" when writing this is
probably
not a good idea, it makes me think of the end when the plant is in
fact trying to take over the world by being placed in every home
(sorry to anyone who I have spoiled the ending of LSOH too). Anyway,
we now have a Houdini amphibian and a very rare plant in Harry
dormitory.

Looking at Trevor, I think we can rule out Neville's mother
possessing the toad since she almost has some of her senses,
especially after Gran says, "Not again" but it still could be
Frank,
after all we never see him in the hospital. It could be Uncle Algie
himself, the idea of possession by others other then Voldermort has
not been bought up yet. Being able to see Hogwarts through the
toad's
eye and report back is scary, it could be for good or bad but still,
a scary thought
I certainly think that Trevor is not an Animagus.

As for that plant, sound dodgy but then again Neville did say he was
going to show it to Prof Sprout so it could be o.k. The fact this
plant has odd defensive properties interests me. After all, it is
defence and not attack unlike the devil snare we saw (BTW, I think
Neville was too distracted to notice it in the hospital). But as for
what it means, I'm not to sure yet, I am thinking about it but
need a
bit of inspiration. But the fact remains, why give Neville a plant as
rare as that? There is nothing significant about his birthday this
time, he is not of age, he has not done his OWLs yet and the only
other time Great Uncle Algie is mentioned is at the beginning of the
first book giving Neville a toad. It seems a little significant that
he gets a rare plant so on his birthday which is very near the time
the Voldermort has been reborn.

Add this to the pushing-off-a-pier-and-out-of-a-high-window and add
that we are not told who the eavesdropper on Trelawney and Dumbledore
was that day of the first prophecy, and we have someone who seems to
be a death eater who knew that the person to defeat the Dark Lord was
born in July and is not over looking the fact that it may not have
been Harry and is trying to get rid of the "spare". Being a
family
member meant that he not only knew about Frank and Alice escaping
three times, but that their son was born in July and is in a good
position to do something about it.

Unless there is a strange twist to the tail which is quite probable
knowing JKR.

Anyway, that is quite enough rambling from me for now.
