The most accurate portrayal of Sirius not OOP but in GOF

Okay there has been a lot of discussions as to Sirius's character but most people are using the most recent book for their basis. In most cases the most recent information that you have on a person is the most accurate but I believe that in Sirius's case this is not true.

Why?
Because Sirius was pent up. He was in a situation where he could not go out (because it had become fairly clear knowledge to most people that Sirius Black was an anigmus) and the fact that if Harry would loose Sirius it would be a huge blow to him (no matter what you think of him we know this is true). Everyone knows that Sirius is now going to be targeted as a way to get to Harry. Because of his convict status Sirius is a double threat in OOP because he is a target but he is also an accused criminal. Thus, he is being forced into insolation.

However, in GOF Voldemort was not in full power and while Sirius may be targeted, the direct threat to Harry himself was constantly present. Thus, it seemed like a very good idea for Sirius to stick around Hogwarts so that he could serve as a guide to Harry. And it was during these times that Sirius actually started to watch Harry, get to know him, develop a loving caring relationship with him. He was able to be the active Godfather he had so much desired. However, in OOP he is forced to live a life isolation from his godson which I truly believe hurts Sirius very much.

On many levels, I think that the Sirius we see in OOP is jealous of Snape. Snape gets to be out there helping the order...but more importantly Snape sees Harry everyday. Snape can protect Harry. Thus, Sirius maintained a great deal of bitterness towards Snape.

But I think that we are forgetting that what Sirius says about Snape in GOF which I think proves that he may not like Snape but he wasn't all that inclined to believe that he was a death eater. Once he found out that he was in fact a death eater in OOP I think Sirius is one of those guys who may find it hard to believe that a person can ever really leave the "group."

And one thing that I don't get is maybe there is some bitterness on the side of Sirius because perhaps, Sirius thinks that Snape must have known he wasn't really a death eater. Whether this is true or not I will never know....but Sirius might be inclined to think that if Snape was a death eater he must have known that Sirius was not...and must have been kind of hurt by the fact that he never told tried to stand behind him.

Of course this is all specualation..but I don't know I think that the Sirius we see in OOP was a really sad person. I do not think that this is the correct view of Sirius at all.
