I was being flip in an earlier post about Mark Evans being Snape's
son, because of the anagram, but I am starting to wonder now, if
perhaps the reason that Snape treats Harry so badly is that he, too,
had a son born as the seventh month died. If that child was killed
by V-mort, or on his orders (very biblical, that), it would be a good
reason for Snape to have changed sides, and his family's
location/identity to keep them safe. If, several years later,
another child was born, it could certainly be young Mark. In the
meantime, the marriage could have gone sour, and Snape returned to
Hogwarts where he was well known and used his given name again.

Losing his son night make him hate the surviving children more - he
really does seem to have it in for Harry and for Neville.

Anyone?
