Actually, I do think that Snape tried to save the Potters, but I also 
think that Harry will have his reasons to twist the story into 
something negative. I think that Snape was the one who overheard the 
prophecy in the first place and informed Voldemort about it. Later he 
changed his mind and tried to save Potters, but I wonder how grateful 
Harry will be if Snape was the one who directed Voldy's attention to 
him and his parents in the first place?
This is just speculation, of course.
