Hello everyone,

Contrary to popular belief, I was the one who started this thread 
(thanks to everyone who responded).  I know there have been some 
posts suggesting this discussion take place elsewhere, however, I 
would prefer this discussion take place here.  I think it is fitting 
because I am interested in what JKR/screenwriter had to say about 
transforming the book into a screenplay and what that tells us about 
the storyline of the books.  In short, I am primarily concerned with 
the plot of the books.

There have been a lot of great ideas suggested so far, but many 
people (at least from what I can remember) seem to think the Hand of 
Glory material (or the whole Knockturn Alley sequence 
itself...including Hagrid's appearance there), the study hall 
sequence, or something relating to Dobby (maybe even Dobby himself) 
were on the cutting block.  I think all of these are great 
suggestions (in addition, I especially enjoyed Ryan's post about 
Hedwig in the cage, the idea that Colin Creevey's pictures will serve 
an important role later on (maybe someone will notice something in a 
picture that provides a clue to a puzzle?), and the wonderful post 
about Malfoy saying "Avada"....hadn't noticed that...thanks) and I 
would like to throw out one more: 

What about Aragog?  Previously I mentioned how the whole 
polyjuice/transforming into Crabbe and Goyle really didn't contribute 
all that much, but the same can be said for Aragog.  I wonder if 
Aragog will be making an appearance in book 6 or 7?  Possibly needed 
to establish him?  Or maybe needed the scene to remind everyone that 
(my favorite character) the flying Ford was still in the forest?
