Despite having more on her plate(Spew, prefect duties, clearing 
Harry's name, the DA) than Ron which just shows her devotion towards 
her friends?

Maybe if the show was a weekly serial or monthly series, but do you 
seriously think a multibook arc for a seven part story is going to 
end up back at status quo?

Or maybe Rowling is showing that as you grow up and mature you lose 
and gain friends? Old ones can become more distant while the ones 
that you once considered third wheels and outcasts become essential.

True because Harry has few close friends unlike Ron. However if the 
situation is reversed with Harry getting everything that Ron wanted 
then do you truly think the trio is going to last?
