Ahhhh, but *everything* can be argued, can it not (even if the author 
herself takes the opposite stance on national TV).  And frankly, I do 
not think that it was a "poor choice" for Sirius to go to the MoM to 
try to rescue Harry and the gang--I think that it was pretty much his 
*only* choice in that situation.  As has been pointed out by others, 
Harry *thought* that he was there to rescue Sirius.  How could Sirius 
*not* go given that he was the parent-equivalent and the seriousness 
of the situation (the lives of the kids in peril, including Harry's, 
and aurors outnumbered 2 to 1)?  Both DD and Hagrid say as much to 
Harry at the end of the book (not what Harry wants to hear at the 
time since it increases his own sense of guilt for creating the 
situation).
I do not think that Sirius made either a poor or reckless choice in 
this case. I certainly will not argue that it turned out to have a 
poor *outcome* in Sirius's case.    Elle
