<<< "Shaun Hately" wrote... ...which gave them a much higher than
normal incentive to find a way to pay the fees - but the Creevey's
are faced with a pretty unusual situation as well. I'm not saying
everybody could find a way - but it's not impossible.>>>

The Sergeant Majorette says:

And I went to Catholic parochial school in NYC, which has free public
education through high school. I think my situation may be more
closely analogous to the Hogwarts thing because in those days it did
not occur to solid Catholic parents that there was any alternative to
somehow finding a way. There were sliding scales, reduced rates for
siblings, support from the diocese, revenue sharing-type arrangements
with rich parishes, endowments, legacies, etc.

More than likely, when the child was baptized, the priest would have
said something like, "Well, we'll be seeing you again a few years,
won't we?" The pastor would know if there was a financial issue, and
by the time the child was ready for school, a solution would be found.
(Now I think about it, red hair, freckles, about a zillion brothers --
wonder where the Wrobleskis are today?).

One the one hand, yeah, it is boarding school; on the other hand,
ages 11 to 17 are entitled to free education almost anywhere.

And we're not talking Swiss finishing-school luxury here.

Oh, yeah -- and it's *magic*!!!
