Researching slowed down

I have been doing lots of research lately. LOTS! Now I came across 
something that is bugging me. It's about house-elves. Who knew they 
could disappear anywhere including Hogwarts. Now, Dobby is always a 
friend of Harry's. If Harry called for help who would come running. 
Dobby? Dumbledore, the whole Aurors with bells on? Now I think given 
the fact that Harry "Saved" Dobby, Dobby keeps his eyes on Harry, I 
am thinking that Dobby would hear Harry and that if Dumbledore 
really wanted to keep an eye on Harry Dobby should have been his 
choice. House-elves have very powerful magic and would be able to 
save Harry from most things, except maybe LV himself. But as long as 
Harry stays at the aunt's house, that should not be a worry for 
Harry? Is my thinking gone on the fritz or am I on the right path?
